The Communicating Astronomy with the Public (CAP) Conference is the only large-scale international conference for astronomy communication. This conference series brings together astronomy communicators from around the world to share best practices, exchange ideas, brainstorm solutions, and explore chances for collaboration.
Hosted by the Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory and the Armenian Astronomical Society, the next CAP Conference will be held during 25 to 29 May 2026, online and in-person, in Yerevan, Armenia.
CAP 2026 is part of a series of conferences organised by the Commission C2–Communicating Astronomy with the Public of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and the IAU Office for Astronomy Outreach. The conference targets professionals in science communication, informal education, planetaria and science centres, professional and amateur astronomers, journalists, and creative personalities. Its goal is to gather the diverse global community of astronomy communicators under one (digital) roof.
