Practical Info
Airport Transfer
Upon arrival, our driver will meet you at the Zvartnots International Airport and transfer you to your hotel. Please look for a sign with a “CAP2026” note. If you still haven’t sent to LOC a copy of your electronic ticket, please do so to ensure we have complete information about your arrival.
We recommend arriving a day before the event begins.
Dining
Yerevan offers a rich and diverse culinary scene, ranging from traditional Armenian restaurants to modern cafés, wine bars, and international cuisine. Most dining places are within walking distance of the conference venue and city center. Vegetarian and vegan options are widely available. Restaurants typically operate from around 10:00 until late evening, while cafés and bakeries open earlier. Tipping is customary (5–10%), though many places already include a service fee in the bill.
Time Zone
Armenia is in the UTC+4:00 time zone. Please note the time difference with Central European Time: +2 hours during summer and +3 hours during winter.
Climate
Armenia is mostly a sunny country with hot summers and cold winters. May is one of the best months to visit Yerevan. The city enjoys warm, comfortable days with average temperatures around 20–25°C, creating ideal conditions for sightseeing and outdoor activities.
During the CAP2026, we expect pleasant days. The average daytime temperature will fluctuate between +21 and +25°C, and the nighttime temperature from +9 to +11°C. You may anticipate dry (an average 55% humidity is expected) and warm weather. Rare light rains may occur. Please bring light jackets for evenings, as the daily temperature amplitude is large.
Local Currency
The local currency is Armenian Dram (AMD). All payments (hotels, restaurants, cafes, shops, transport, etc.) are accepted only in AMD. Paper notes are issued in denominations of 1,000, 2,000, 5,000, 10,000, 20,000, 50,000 and 100,000 AMD. Coins are used for amounts less than 1,000 AMD (10, 20, 50, 100, 200, and 500). Check exchange rates at: https://www.rate.am/en/armenian-dram-exchange-rates/banks
You may easily change EUR, USD, GBP, RUB, and other international currencies in any bank or exchange office. ATMs in Yerevan function with Visa, MasterCard, and Plus Global Access Network systems.
Public Transport
Yerevan has a well-connected public transport system that includes buses, minibuses, and an easy-to-use metro line. Fares are inexpensive: buses and minibuses typically cost 150 AMD per ride, payable by card upon exit. The metro operates from around 06:30 to 23:00 and provides quick access between the main districts. Taxis and ride-hailing apps such as GG, Yandex Go, and UTaxi are widely available and affordable, usually costing 1000–2,000 AMD for short trips within the city center. Walking is also convenient, as many key attractions are located close to each other.
Electric Plugs
Electric plugs in Armenia are like European ones (with two round pins). Both thin (Southern Europe) and thick (Northern Europe) versions are in use. Standard voltage is 220V (AC) and the frequency is 50Hz.
