We have new logo for #IAUCAP2022 !
Created in consultation with an Australian Worimi / Biripai community expert, this logo pays respect to the diverse Aboriginal indigenous cultures. It features a collection of elements found primarily in the traditional art from Central and Western Desert regions, as well as South Eastern Australia. This includes dot painting and concentric line art — here depicting a starry night sky with star trails, the Moon and the Southern Cross. The Sun-like element near the center is a Western Desert artistic symbol interpreted as a gathering of people around a campfire. Finally, the iconic Sydney Opera House represents not only modern Australia, but the international community that it draws. This logo embodies the essence of the CAP Conference 2022: a multicultural and multinational gathering under the Australian skies, with an acknowledgement of the traditional owners of the lands where it will be hosted.
This year, the 10th edition of the CAP conference is being organised between 12-16 September, 2022 by the IAU Commission C2: Communicating Astronomy with the Public and the IAU Office for Astronomy Outreach, in cooperation with Macquarie University, in Sydney, Australia.
