Macquarie University’s main campus, which will host the CAP 2022 conference, is located in Macquarie Park – about 15 kilometres from Sydney’s city centre.

Need something? You won’t have to go far. The campus locality offers everything you need to get through the day, including:
- cafés
- a bar and restaurants
- childcare centres
- medical clinic and pharmacy
- shopping centre (located across the road from the Metro station)

Arrivals from out of town
Please make sure you read this Covid-19 related information for travel to Australia, before planning your travel.
Nearest airport: Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport (SYD)
Train station for the international terminal (Terminal 1): “International” (T8)
Train station for the domestic terminal (Terminal 2): “Domestic” (T8)
(Note that an airport station access fee of A$15.13 is levied. One can avoid this fee by taking a 400/420 bus to Mascot, then an onward train. This adds about half an hour to your journey.)
Taxi: Costs of an Uber from the airport to Macquarie University are upwards of A$80 (duration ~1 hr); taxis, limousines and shuttles are even more expensive.
Opal travel cards (“Opal cards” can be used for travel on all public transportation options in the greater Sydney area)
Macquarie University is accessible by a range of local transport modes
Wherever possible we encourage the use of sustainable transport options such as public transport. The Macquarie University Metro station and a network of public bus routes connect our Macquarie Park location with the city centre, airport, beaches, residential suburbs, and shopping and dining districts like Chatswood and Parramatta.

Hotels nearer the city centre:
| Participants may want to stay closer to the city centre, which is made easy by Sydney’s excellent network of trains and metro services, given that Macquarie University has its own campus train station. We recommend two regions specifically: |
| 1. Chatswood, 10 min by metro from Macquarie University station |
| 2. North Sydney, 20–25 min by train and metro (change at Chatswood by simply crossing the platform), is just across the Harbour Bridge on the North Shore, within easy walking distance of the Opera House and “downtown” |

Except for Australian and New Zealand passport holders, every visitor to Australia needs a visa

| Sydney has a range of accessible services to allow as many people as possible to make their way around the city centre. For instance, more than 2,100 tactile and braille street signs have been installed across the City’s local area. The tactile and braille signs are placed next to push buttons at every signalised pedestrian crossing across the City’s local area. |
| The University offers a Women’s Room and a Queer Space for any University staff, students and visitors who identify as Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, and/or Queer (GLBTIQ), as well as their Straight Allies. |

Breastfeeding

Whilst parents can breastfeed anywhere on campus, Macquarie University provides dedicated Parents Rooms for the comfort of breastfeeding employees, students and visitors. These rooms can be used both by parents, including those who are expressing or breastfeeding on campus, and as first aid rooms. The rooms are located at:
